Our project, Gib, was inspired by the financial inclusivity that is core to the Web Monetization philosophy and its revolutionary architecture. Gib is designed to use the Web Monetization standard and the Interledger Protocol in a simple component - facilitating the sharing of premium web content. Think of Gib as a way to share pre-paid links to content.

How it works:

When a user clicks the "Gib Link" button and purchases a link, an ephemeral, Interledger-compatible, wallet is created within our backend – storing the purchased funds – and associated with the URL to be shared. When the Gib link is shared and opened, Gib intelligently routes the user to the desired website and begins streaming payment over the Interledger Protocol; from the ephemeral wallet to the website host's Interledger-compatible wallet.

When the user disconnects from the shared website (e.g. by closing the browser tab or navigating away), Gib automatically stops streaming payment. The link can be revisited as long as there are funds stored within the ephemeral wallet.
